An Enchanting Report from Lausanne

The P5 +1 nations spent eight days and nights at the Beau Rivage Palace in Lausanne, Switzerland negotiating a nuclear agreement with Iran that could lead to a final document in June.

The BBC's Chief International Correspondent, Lyse Doucet, is a master of haiku-style tweets. (I'll never forget her tweet during the World Cup semi-final -'some people are worried about Gaza. Some people are worried about Germany v Brazil. Some people are worried about both.') But this report on Kate Adie's 'From Our Own Correspondent' on BBC Radio 4 Saturday April 4th was a masterpiece of alliteration.

Of course, I was intrigued by the history of the Beau Rivage that included its being the location of the Billy Wilder film 'Some Like it Hot' starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. It was also the location for Luchino Visconti's 'Death in Venice' starring Dirk Bogarde. Coco Chanel lived at the Beau Rivage in the early 1950s after breaking up with the Duke of Westminster. This is mentioned in the radio report.

Here is Lyse's report, which reads a bit like a Somerset Maugham story:
